**VETERAN OWNED COMPANY** About the Founders: Dauntless Wine Cømpany is a veteran owned and operated winery whose mission is to serve the Veteran community through agriculture, mentorship, and charitable contribution. Located in the northern Willamette Valley, our goal is to craft premium Oregon wine while helping veterans transition from the battlefield to the home front. We are committed to service by giving veterans a professional alternative through viticulture and enology - allowing them to decompress from the stressors of post-war life. Dauntless Wine Cø. was founded by three Iraq war combat veterans - two Marines and one Corpsman. After years of service, the three founders felt that more could be done for the veteran community. But why wine? Winemakers agree that great wine is made in the vineyard, which at its heart is one of man's oldest agricultural crops. It is well known that Roman Legionaries expanded viticulture throughout Europe to supply the Legion with wine, vinegar, and posca. Soldiering and farming have been intertwined for millennia because both require hard work and attention to detail; while tending the land is perhaps one of the oldest methods of post-war therapy. Wine just happens to be the reward for dedicating ourselves to one of Earth's greatest gifts - the grape. However, wine is only half of the equation, and it is not even the most important half. America is faced with a growing need to serve the veteran community, which is often forgotten and left to their own devices. America’s veterans need guidance from within their ranks. Therefore, Dauntless contributes to organizations that service the local veteran community. Today, two out of every three retiring farmers are not being replaced, and veterans are needed once again to serve America. That is why we are a proud member of the Farmer Veteran Coalition - a 501(c) organization that assists Veterans in becoming farmers and agricultural leaders in their communities. Dauntless Wine Cø. is committed to veterans through viticulture and enology, allowing them to decompress from the stressors of post-war life. About this wine: The M4 Sherman was the most widely used medium tank by the Western Allies in WWII, and was the antithesis of the German tanks it faced. With over 12 variants built on the chassis or hull, the Sherman was simple, reliable, cheap to produce, and easy to work on. Tank units were shadowed by recovery units that repaired disabled vehicles in the field and returned them to service quickly – even with riddled hulls. Comparatively, German tanks had to leave the front in order to be repaired. This combination gave the Allies an numerical edge, which ultimately won the Western front. Winemaking notes: A hand picked, single block, late harvest, Syrah from Old 47 Estate Vineyard in the Tualatin Hills AVA. Destemmed, not crushed. Punched down daily during a 2.5 week ferment. Unfined and polished filtered with natural and added sulfites for freshness, no additional additives, preservatives, animal products, or residual sugar. Aged 1.5 years on the lees with French Medium+ toasted oak. Tasting notes: This cool climate Syrah is produced in a pinot noir style and features a delicate palate, fruity undertones, and a gentle tannin profile that builds on a long finish.
